From Work Besties to Swifties

In the heart of Los Angeles, an unforgettable story unfolded for a dedicated SoFi employee and her work bestie. After winning an employee appreciation day give-a-way, they embarked on a journey that combined music and friendship to see the iconic Taylor Swift perform live at the stunning SoFi Stadium. From the excitement of winning the tickets to the exhilarating road trip creating extraordinary memories, this uniquely SoFi experience was one for the books!

The adventure began on a day dedicated to appreciating SoFi's exceptional employees – Employee Appreciation Day. SoFi organized a global event spanning teams and continents, offering incredible prizes to recognize our employees. Among the coveted prizes were tickets to Taylor Swift's concert at SoFi Stadium, a dream for many music enthusiasts. And it was none other than Allison Delgado, Workplace Coordinator, who emerged as the lucky winner. But Allison decided to make this experience even more special by inviting her best friend and fellow SoFi employee, Frankie Velarde, to join her on this once-in-a-lifetime journey.

We had the opportunity to catch up with Allison and learn about her journey at SoFi and the ultimate girls trip her and Frankie took to SoFi stadium.

Allison, can you share a bit about your journey at SoFi and what you enjoy most about working here? 

I've had the privilege of being a part of the SoFi family for the past six and a half years! I began my SoFi adventure in customer service and over time, my career led me to becoming a Workplace Coordinator, where I continue to learn and grow but what makes my role even better, are the fantastic people I work with every day. I love ensuring that our team members feel supported, comfortable, and valued.

Talk about the excitement you had over winning the tickets! 

I was in total shock, but it was so exciting. I couldn't contain my enthusiasm, so I kept calling Frankie repeatedly to share the news knowing that she was engrossed in work and not paying attention to the slack announcements. Being closely involved with the site team and the employee experience team, we often find ourselves on the side of organizing and facilitating giveaways, rather than being on the receiving end. So, winning something as fantastic as these Taylor Swift tickets was amazing. It was a feeling of fulfillment in the most unexpected and thrilling way. 

As you look back on this extraordinary experience, has it inspired you to approach your career at SoFi with renewed enthusiasm and appreciation?

I can't help but feel a surge of renewed enthusiasm and deep appreciation for my career at SoFi. The moment I set eyes on the stadium, it hit me like a wave of inspiration. I thought to myself, "WOW, we really did that." And the concert  was nothing short of a once-in-a-lifetime experience. It's moments like these that remind me of the incredible opportunities and experiences that SoFi brings into our lives, and it certainly fuels my passion for what I do here.

How did attending the concert with your work bestie make the experience even more special? Attending the concert with Frankie added an extra layer of excitement to the entire experience. Frankie and I go way back—we've been best friends since the 7th grade and now work together at SoFi. Surprisingly, this adventure was the very first time we embarked on a trip together.

Was this an experience you may have not had if you didn’t win these tickets?  

Admittedly, I wasn't a fan of Taylor Swift before winning the tickets. I set out to win football tickets, however as the performance unfolded and I saw the grandeur of Taylor Swift, I left the stadium a devoted Swiftie and so grateful for the experience I had because of SoFi! Being able to share the experience with my best friend made the whole experience 100% better. It was the perfect girls trip.

In the end, this journey to the Taylor Swift concert at SoFi Stadium was an experience that Allison and Frankie might have missed if they hadn't won those tickets. It was a day filled with surprises, shared with a best friend!
