Our Gig Economy is designed to offer employees unparalleled visibility and access to cross-departmental groups, fostering a culture of collaboration and skill enhancement. They are tailor-made opportunities for employees to explore new horizons, gain valuable experience in diverse functional areas, cultivate essential skills, and expand their professional network—all within the dynamic ecosystem of SoFi Technologies.
Jarrett Nielsen, Senior Investment Specialist has embraced SoFi’s unique opportunity for growth and development by participating in a “Gig” as we call them here at SoFi. In this Q&A, we had the privilege of learning about Jarrett’s inspiration and success within his Gig assignment. We were excited to hear firsthand about what motivated him to participate, how it has helped elevate his career, and what motivates Jarrett to grow!
What motivated you to participate in SoFi’s Gig Economy?
I am someone with an insatiable desire to continue learning and growing, so when I first heard about SoFi's Gig Economy, I knew I had to seize the chance to be a part of it. The prospect of discovering new skill sets and tools was incredibly enticing, and I couldn't wait to jump right in. I chose the project analyst gig project because of my wife, who is a project manager and passionately loves her job. I wanted to see for myself if it truly lived up to the hype.
How has the Gig elevated your career?
Participating in SoFi's Gig Economy has become a game-changer for my career. The wealth of knowledge and experience I gained through this opportunity has allowed me to implement new tools and skills in my current role. Moreover, it opened doors to other exciting projects within the company that I might not have been considered for otherwise. I feel more valuable to my team and SoFi as a whole, and I believe this is just the beginning of an upward trajectory toward a rewarding position within this field.
SoFi’s Value of the month in August is “Help People Grow.” What motivates you to grow?
My biggest motivation to grow is my family. I aspire to provide them with the best possible life, and I believe that continuous growth in my career will lead to better opportunities and stability for us. I also want to instill in my son the value of perseverance and learning during difficult times. I want him to understand that growth is a lifelong journey, and we should never stop striving to improve ourselves.
What is something you’re really proud of in your career?
I take immense pride in how my career has positively influenced my personal life. The lessons I've learned, such as patience, effective communication, and being a better colleague, friend, husband, and father, have significantly impacted my everyday interactions. Embracing these skills has made me a better-rounded individual, and I cherish the growth both in my career and as a person.
Something fun: how would you use your extra time if you had 25 hours in a day?
That’s a great question! If I were blessed with an extra hour each day, I would unequivocally spend it with my family. They are the heart and soul of my life, and I cherish every moment spent with them. Cooking together, going for walks, and playing outside are some of the simple pleasures that I wouldn't trade for anything in the world.
Thank you Jarrett, we know your story will inspire others to embrace new opportunities and continue their journey of personal and professional development.
