We are proud to share that our Head of Business Controls, Operations Excellence, and Mortgage Servicing, Kim Hoffman, CMB, AMP, was awarded the Women with Vision award!
This prestigious industry award is granted to women professionals in the mortgage space who exemplify a forward vision of leadership and growth. Kim is the epitome of professionalism and excellence and demonstrates her proven ability as a visionary and inspiring leader. For Kim, being a Woman with Vision is two-fold: having a passion for tech enabled operational processes and continued education. We were excited to sit down with Kim and discuss her dedication to learning and technology, what brought her to SoFi and our Value Of The Month, Learn, Iterate, Innovate!
Kim has been in the mortgage industry for over 25 years, fighting rate cycles that either force massive hiring frenzies or force dramatic layoffs. Mortgage industry processes are highly manual, and are highly regulated, which can create a difficult, chaotic experience for consumers. However, Kim has a passion for technology and a proven history of excellence and leadership that is a great fit for solving those challenges. She has had the great fortune of seeing what technology can do for the mortgage industry. When choosing to come to SoFi, she knew there would be the capability and the desire to revolutionize the mortgage industry through technology and continuing education!
Kim joined SoFi in February of 2021 for a variety of reasons including the opportunity for professional development, focus on DE&I, and the company’s mission and values. She explained that she appreciated that there were many women in senior leadership roles at
SoFi and it was refreshing for her to see that SoFi delivers on its culture of diversity rather than just speaking to it. She is a member of our Women@SoFi employee resource group (called Circles internally) and loves to be a part of a group within SoFi where women come together and support each other. Additionally, SoFi offers great learning and professional growth opportunities such as our mentorship program, SoFi GROW where Kim had the opportunity to volunteer as a mentor. She is among a long list of experienced leaders who donate their time to be a resource for professional development. Ultimately, she loves that SoFi respects everyone regardless of their differences and champions individual authenticity. “These things make SoFi such an incredible place to call home,” she stated.
Each month we align and celebrate one of our 11 core values. In May, our Core Value of the Month is aligned to Learn, Iterate, Innovate and Kim and her team weave this value into their everyday practices by constantly redesigning and innovating workflows, reports, and processes for vendors to better serve our members. Kim boasts that they are constantly looking for improvement opportunities and as a leader, she truly believes when you eliminate the fear of failure for your team, people are free to be creative. And this cultural behavior comes from the very top — Kim believes our CEO, Anthony Noto, does a great job of communicating that our culture is a safe place to take chances and fail, as long as we learn from them. This has enabled her team to do the same.
Kim hopes the industry is at a point where women know no bounds! It won’t be about male or female, it will be about impact. It’s up to women to find their voice, be fearless, and take the position at the head of the table. “Power is taken, it’s not given, and it’s time more women take it,” she said.
Her advice? Always be learning. She believes that knowledge is a tool and a superpower, and you have to constantly be improving your knowledge and keeping current on the trends. Believing that you won’t be able to help your organization, teams, or customers without knowledge is a key to success. “Be the CEO of your own career, " she said, "because it is your responsibility to foster your growth, not anyone else's.”
Congratulations, Kim from all of us at SoFi! It is no wonder you have received this award as well as named one of the leading women in the Mortgage industry. We are so proud of your vision and accomplishments.
The individual featured is a SoFi employee. Their personal experiences, obviously, do not take into account your own specific objectives, financial situation, and needs. Results will vary.
