SoFi Has Been Named a 2023 Best Place to Work by Built In

At SoFi, we are committed to creating a culture where our employees can thrive so they can fulfill our company mission of helping our members achieve financial independence. That’s why everything we do – from building our employee programs, benefits and perks - is centered around what our people need to bring their best selves to work everyday. So when we are recognized by our peers, like digital fintech community, Built In, as being a 2023 “Best Place to Work” it shows that we are moving in the right direction, on a path to building a world-class culture that attracts and retains the best talent.

We are honored to be named a 2023 Best Place to Work on the following Built In awards:

To be named alongside so many other industry-leading companies is humbling. We have ambitious goals at SoFi – we’ve set out to change the way people think about and interact with personal finance. We’re a next-gen personal finance company, utilizing innovative, mobile-first technology on a mission to help our over four and a half million members reach financial independence to realize their ambitions.

This journey starts with being deeply committed to our mission - we’re proud to come to work every day knowing that what we do has a direct impact on people’s lives, with our 11 core values guiding us every step of the way. For example, our Value of the Month programming highlights one of our 11 core values (December is dedicated to all 11!) and offers both in-office and virtual programming to bring it to life. From learning sessions with industry thought leaders and experts, to monthly contests, recognition opportunities, and more, there is something for everyone.

We truly believe that our people are our greatest differentiator – if we take care of them, they will take care of our members. So, we take a holistic approach to employee wellbeing, offering a wide range of benefits and programs that support our people; including: our low-to-no-cost medical plans, mental health services through a partnership with Modern Health, family planning benefits, caregiver leave, gym & wellness programs, and more. Additionally, we want to help our employees achieve financial independence, just like our members, so we contribute $200 per month toward their student loans to help pay down debt—plus free financial classes. To address burnout employees were feeling from working from home throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, we created SoFridays, where exempt employees can start their weekends at 2 p.m. every Friday, all year.

Additionally, our new employee wellness program, SoFi Cares, focuses on how our employees can be their best selves in and out of the office. This includes guided meditations, catered lunch, and other experiences for employees to take care of themselves and connect with others – virtually and in person.

When the global COVID-19 pandemic forced companies to shift to full-time remote work, SoFi also had to adapt. What started as a temporary work-from-home environment has shifted to a flexible approach to work. Why? Because flexibility is no longer a nice to have; it’s a non-negotiable for employees. Our Chief People Officer, Anna Avalos, recently told Built In, “We know that the work environment – and employees’ needs – are going to continue to evolve, so we make sure that we are regularly listening to our employees and adapting our offerings to their needs.” That’s why we now offer flexible work environments in which each employee works with their manager to pick the setting that best works for them: in-office, hybrid or full-time remote.

We believe that in order to help employees manage work and life, we have to meet them where they are and give them the flexibility to bring their best selves to work every day. This includes ensuring that remote employees have the same high-quality experience over Zoom as those employees who go into the office. For example, our regular All Hands meeting with CEO Anthony Noto (unique to the industry) is Zoom-first to ensure all employees get the same access and overall feel. This is the same with external speakers and other company-wide programming. For those events that are in-person, such as volunteering, we ensure remote employees have access to a similar, virtual experience with the same organization.

But don’t just take it from us – our employees are sharing what they think makes SoFi a 2023 Built In Best Place to Work:

Patrick F., Senior Copywriter, San Francisco:

“SoFi is leading the charge in a category that our members genuinely care about—because we get to impact how they save, spend, and borrow money. While the rest of the industry is spiraling out of control from overpromises and reckless growth, SoFi is steady at the wheel showing the world what fintech can really do.

Plus, SoFi is contradictory in all the best ways. It's big, but it feels small. Leadership is world-class, but approachable. Work-life balance is figured out, but not at the expense of career growth. The people are smart, but kind.”

Krista A., Senior Site Lead, Salt Lake City:

After over 5 years with SoFi, I am still regularly being challenged and continuing to grow in my role. With my manager's support and the greatest team I've ever been a part of, I feel like I am doing my best work.
